Stefanie J. Allweiss received her J.D. from Tulane University School of Law in 1980, where she graduated cum laude. Ms. Allweiss practiced law for 25 years, from 1980 until 2005, specializing in the area of labor and employment law. She was a partner with the law firms of McCalla Thompson and Fisher & Phillips.

Ms. Allweiss has been a frequent speaker for and member of the CLE Committee for the Louisiana State Bar Association, the Louisiana Association of Defense Counsel (LADC), the Louisiana Automobile Dealership Association (LADA) and the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC).

From 2005 through 2008, Ms. Allweiss served as the Executive Director of Employee Relations and Equity for Tulane University. Allan L. Beane, Ph.D., a former classroom teacher, is an internationally recognized expert, speaker, and author on bullying. Libia Gil joined the American Institutes for Research to continue the work she began as the chief academic officer of New American Schools. As senior fellow, Dr. Gil provides counsel on leadership development initiatives and assists states and districts in developing strategies for improving student achievement by bridging evidence from both research and practice.

Dr. Gil is currently the lead consultant for the high school renewal efforts in the San Diego Unified School District on behalf of Carnegie Corporation of New York and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. For over nine years, Dr. Gil served as superintendent of the Chula Vista Elementary School District. Patrick holds a master’s degree from the University of Southern California’s Annenberg School for Communication in Los Angeles and a bachelor’s degree from the Colorado College.

Patrick was the first woman to play in the men’s intramural football league at the Colorado College.

Susan Patrick is the President and Chief Executive Officer of the International Association for K-12 Online Learning (iNACOL). iNACOL is the international K-12 nonprofit association representing the interests of practitioners, providers and students involved in online learning worldwide.

She is the former Director of the Office of Educational Technology at the U.S. Department of Education. As Director, she published the U.S. National Education Technology Plan for Congress and managed research and technical assistance programs on educational technology. In addition, she co-chaired the federal government’s Advanced Technologies Working Group for Education and Training; and served as a member of the Secretary’s Rural Education Task Force.

In 2008, Susan Patrick was named by eSchool News, a leading national education technology journal, as one of the top 10 national education leaders who “have had a profound impact on educational technology” in the past decade for her work at iNACOL and at the U.S. Department of Education.

Prior, Patrick worked in Arizona on government technology policy and legislation under Governor Jane Dee Hull. She received the 2001 Governor’s Spirit of Excellence Award.

She is a former Site Director for Old Dominion University’s TELETECHNET distance learning program.

Nancy J. Shoemaker is a BoardSource trained consultant and facilitator for nonprofit organizations. She facilitates board retreats and works with individual organizations on complex, nonprofit issues including: legal and fiduciary accountability, strategic planning, board development, fundraising, teamwork and generative thinking.

Before her formal training and work as a consultant, Nancy spent years as a volunteer board member on nonprofit boards and foundations in and around Sarasota, Florida. Most recently, she served for nine years on the United Way Board of Directors of Sarasota County, two of those years as its Chair. Her many years of board service bring a depth of experience and understanding to her consulting work.

Prior to her extensive work with boards, Nancy taught for nine years in the public schools of Chicago’s inner city. She later joined her family’s lumber and building supply business in Sarasota and worked there until it was sold. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Carleton College, in Northfield, Minnesota.

Todd Ziebarth is the vice president for state advocacy and support for the National Alliance for Public Charter Schools. Previously, he worked as a policy analyst both at the Education Commission of the States from 1997 to 2003 and at Augenblick, Palaich, and Associates from 2003 to 2005. He has a Bachelors of Business Administration from Western Michigan University, a Master's of Public Administration from the University of Colorado at Denver and a Master's of Urban and Regional Planning from the University of Colorado at Denver.
